Project Timeline

Phase 1

Building a new
institution

The Center was built from scratch as an organisation wholly owned by the state. Its key task was to provide state financial support to national films and film projects.

Phase 2

A competitive
model

The new system introduced professional selection of the film projects applying for state support. An expert council reviewed the projects and issued funding recommendations.

Phase 3

Launching
the system

In 2019 the new model moved from legislation to practice: the institution was taking shape, cooperation with the film industry was being built, and the support mechanisms envisaged by the law were being launched.
